PTV 250 B-140.505
In June 1999, I participated with our 1st PTV in the VI International Microcar Meeting that was held in Manresa. My son joined my team and he was quickly excited about driving one of them as well. As I did not want to do without my PTV and lend it to him, I started looking for a new PTV again.
It is getting more and more difficult to find a PTV and I did not find one until six months later, and in fact, it was quite far away from where I live, I found it in León. In order to find out about the real state of the vehicle, we made a visit to León in January 2000. The owner confirmed that it had been made in 1957, and in spite of its state, it could actually be reconstructed. Moreover, the gear was a kind of stiff stick, which corresponds to the first 58 PTVs that were made. All this facts helped me to convince on buying the car. The dealings about the car were slow and difficult, but in June 2000 the vehicle was put in the tow and it was brought to Manresa.Once it was in Manresa, we started to make a previous study of the car before the reconstruction was carried out and we realized that the number of frame coincided with the 7th car that was made in the factory in Manresa.
It was not possible for the same people that collaborated in the reconstruction of my first PTV in 1993 to collaborate in the current one. Besides, the engine of the car was highly damaged and we also needed new pieces. One of the satisfactions in this process, in fact the one that satisfies me the most, was the fact thatMr. Guillem Tachó, who is the creator of the PTV mechanics, he show an interest in collaborating once he found out about the reconstruction and due to the fact that some pieces in the mechanics were missing, he wanted to help us with a piece, which was difficult to obtain or reproduce. Moreover, taking into account that he is nearly 90 years old he managed to create some pieces of the engine in his own workshop. The rest of the reconstruction was carried out by real specialists in this car model, even Mr. Tuset who is one of the people who worked in the process of the original fabrication of the vehicle in the 50s. I would like to thank all the people who collaborated in the reconstruction of the PTV and their wonderful work accordingto the chronological evolution as far as their intervention with the car:Planxisteria Sant Joan, Snop automoció, Morros Trullàs, Electricitat Llobet, Tuset.
The début of the car was undergone by my daughter Maria in the VII Microcar meeting in Manresa, in May 2001. The car obtained the 2nd prize in the restoration in this meeting and even though we could hardly ever try it, the functioning of the car was satisfactory and the car was able to finish the meeting without breaking down or having any incident.
The PTV B-140.557 has participated in other contests and it has always managed to work perfectly. If you want to see it you can find it in Local social del Clàssic Motor Club del Bages.
